Providing healthcare is key to improving a community’s overall health status and productivity, especially in developing countries with rural and poor urban areas. People living in rural communities in Africa sometimes have to walk miles to get to healthcare facilities, which in many cases offer little or no help. This shortage of support is mainly due to the severe lack of healthcare facilities, first aid knowledge, and preventative knowledge to avoid infections in the first place. A lack of basic healthcare has resulted in more people, especially the young, missing out on treatment. Some desperate community members self-medicate or spread infections and infectious diseases to the rest of their community members. The lack of knowledge and access to preventative measures such as hygiene education, nutritious food farming, and identification have made healthcare efforts an impossible task in these regions. Among adults specifically, the shortage of healthcare education initiatives often leads to the further inadvertent spread of diseases as they attempt to help the young and vulnerable in their communities. However, an excellent basic healthcare program requires coordinated healthcare and educational supplies. Also required are trained healthcare specialists, who are available to instruct trainers in schools and community centers.
